This is a light-hearted blog to bring you a different perspective to a serious matter. StickerTalk hopes the next time you wash your hands, you will smile and try one of the suggestions below to make this important exercise fun.

When you were young, you were probably told several times a day, “Go wash your hands” or you were asked, “Did you wash your hands?” These questions are not only being asked to children now, but adults are being asked also. All forms of media are providing us with the correct procedures for hand washing and the importance of doing it many times a day. Everyone is saying, “I have never washed my hands so often in one day.” Just as washing our hands got “old” over time and we skipped it here and there when we were children, we are going to feel the same way in a few weeks even though we, as adults, understand the importance of keeping up the hand washing routine.

On YouTube there are several children’s songs for them to sing while they wash their hands. To make the 20 second minimum hand washing time enjoyable, try singing one of them; you will find it better than counting “one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three…” till you reach 20 every time you wash your hands. Sing these to the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”:

                                Wash, wash, wash your hands

                                Wash them nice and clean.

                                Scrub them here

                                Scrub them there

                                And scrub them in between.

                                Wash, wash, wash your hands

                                Play this handy game.

Rub and scrub, scrub and rub

Germs go down the drain HEY!

This is the way we wash our hands

Wash our hands, wash our hands,

                                Before we eat our food.

This is the way we wash our hands

Wash our hands, wash our hands,

This is the way we wash our hands

                                After we play outside.

This is the way we wash our hands

Wash our hands, wash our hands,

This is the way we wash our hands

                                After we play with pets.

This is the way we wash our hands

Wash our hands, wash our hands,

This is the way we wash our hands

                                After we use the potty.

This is the way we wash our hands

Wash our hands, wash our hands,

This is the way we wash our hands

                                After we sneeze or cough.

When you get tired of the above, mix them up with one of these:

If you’re happy and you know it

                                Wash your hands,

If you’re happy and you know it

Then your face is going to show it,

If you’re happy and you know it

                                Wash your hands.

                                Twinkle, twinkle little star,

                                Twinkle, twinkle little star,

Look how clean my two hands are.

Soap and water, wash and scrub

Get those germs off, rub, rub-a-dub.

                                Twinkle, twinkle little star,

                                Twinkle, twinkle little star,

Look how clean my two hands are.

Some of us remember the lyrics in a song that goes, “A little bit of soap will wash away…” You can also make washing your hands, face, and body more enjoyable by using a soap with a fragrance you like. Be sure to take time to breathe in the fragrance to allow your senses to reap the calming affect it will have on you.

StickerTalk hopes all its customers throughout the world will stay healthy.
